Accounts

Steam accounts

Track a CS2 inventory as a speculative collectible account - synced or by hand, priced from the market you choose.

A Steam account tracks a CS2 item collection as an asset. It is a collectible account, which means it works differently from every other account type in Pocketwatch: no ledger, no transactions, no budget, no transfers. Its value comes entirely from the items in it.

Two ways to run one

  • Linked - point the account at a Steam account and Pocketwatch pulls the inventory in and keeps it updated. The inventory has to be public for Steam to share it.
  • Manual - add items yourself and refresh their prices on demand. Useful for items a sync cannot see.

An account can only be linked while it is empty, so a synced inventory and a hand-kept list never get mixed together in the same account. Use two accounts if you want both.

Pricing

Item values are market estimates, and you choose which market they come from - the Steam Community Market, Buff, Skinport, or CSFloat. You can also pin your own value on any item or stack, and your number wins over the estimate.

Set a cost basis for what you paid and Pocketwatch shows unrealized gain or loss. Until a cost basis exists it shows no profit figure rather than a made-up one.

When items disappear

An item vanishing from your inventory is not treated as a sale. It could have been traded, moved into storage, or genuinely sold, and each of those means something different for your numbers.

Instead, missing items collect in a review list and you say what happened: sold, in storage, traded, or removed. Storage units are tracked too, so items you have stowed keep counting toward your total.

Net worth is opt-in

A Steam account is left out of your net worth until you turn it on. These values are speculative estimates of what items might resell for, not cash you hold, so opting in asks you to acknowledge that first. Your account list always shows the collection total either way.

Disconnecting a Steam account only stops Pocketwatch from syncing it. Your real Steam inventory is never touched - Pocketwatch reads it and nothing else.

Collectible accounts are included with Basic, Standard, and Pro.
